I must say I don't really know what to expect after giving birth in terms of clothing, but I'm hoping to buy lots of it as soon as possible. My baby girl is due in three weeks and I've probably bought more clothes for her than she will ever be able to wear before she grows out of them.. but the thing is I NEED to do some serious shopping for me. I desperately need to buy myself some new clothes since my fall/winter closet is pretty much empty and/or outdated. I have already started from scratch by putting away all the items my husband and I are going to donate so I can rebuild a new wardrobe with some nice stuff that works best.
So I've been looking up photos in order to inspire my mind.
I've been looking up clothes, styles, accessories... anything to help me shop accordingly. Here are some wonderful things I found that I think could definitely work. What do you think?
I woukd first say simmer down! Your needs in terms of clothes will change greatly as you lose baby weight. If you are breastfeeding you have a whole different challenge. I'd by some staples, cute front open knits to pair with nursing tops. Bottoms... Well you never know how your body will react. Do your major shopping around 6 to 8 months post baby, depending on your body.
ReplyDeleteoh, i've been told that twice this past 10 minutes and i'm sure you're right - i am a first time mom and i know absolutely nothing about it!! i'm trying not to freak out too much... :P
Deleteanyway, about the weight gain and all; of course i have gained weight during the pregnancy but i was also wearing my old pair of jeans until very recently and i'm hoping to be able to lose most of it as soon as possible. i must try to control myself when shopping, though, as you said. i've already bought a pair of nursing tops and i am already wearing them cause they're pretty nice! i should probably get myself some more..
thanks for stopping by!
I was the same way with my first. I work my jeans, with a hairband hold the button closed, until around the 8th month. Then I just wore cute dresses. I had a huge issue with cloths because the whole maternity shopping craze hadn't hit Rio yet. People just wore crap clothes before that or managed with the stuff that was offered. None the less, my body was a floppy. Hard to explain but it isn't just gain and loss, it is stretch and muscle and fat. It took a while for my body to regain its form. So shop but pick things that you know will go with the flow of you body. It will get back to where it was but there is a flow to it...
ReplyDeleteAt first, I REALLY thought i'd be able to go through all the pregnancy without having to buy maternity clothes, you know.. and i hadn't even taken a look at them - there are so many nice things out there and they don't have to be expensive at all. Though I'd have to say it was probably more of a delusional way of thinking that i wouldn't need that stuff, that i would never get that fat - and that i'd be in a better shape after giving birth if I could manage to wear my own clothes (and only buy a bigger top or two). But that wasn't realistic, of course.. now I know that :)
DeleteI took too long to go shopping for maternity clothes (i did that 2 or 3 weeks ago). They're so cute and comfortable! I should have done done that a long time ago...

:P beijoca, erikinhaaa
DeleteFall is such a beautiful season. I wish we had it in Trinidad...I think I would have liked it very much. Those outfits are gorgeous.

You are not that too far ahead of me. I'm turning 33 weeks this week. I am in love with maternity clothes. I actually don't want to wear normal clothes again :) However, I think with my first, I wore them up to six months after she was born. This one, I'm hoping to be in my regular clothes sooner. I thin all those photos are beautiful. I love cute fall clothes. Too bad it doesn't get that cold here to actually need them. But I still love looking at them none the less.
ReplyDeleteoh, as much as i'm loving maternity clothes, i guess i'm not mentally prepared to wear them for such a long time after i give birth. and i won't be able to wear them for so long anyway (at least not the ones i already have) since winter would be here by then and they're not winter clothes :)
Deletedo you have any suggestions and/or tips for my body to go quickly back to its regular size in a healthy way?
thanks for the visit, btw!
LOVE this post! Super cute blog. xoxo Jess

ReplyDeletethat's such a good idea. why not? :P
DeleteI bought like 10 pairs of pajamas because that's all I wore for the first few weeks. When I did start going out, I would highly recommend blouses which button up because it makes getting your boobs out for b/feeding way easier! I love the chunky knits in your pictures :)
ReplyDeleteAlso good luck for the the rest of your pregnancy and labour! Exciting x

ReplyDeleteI'm not a mom yet and I totally get it! Why do baby clothes drive us crazy anyway?? The thing is I've already bought this baby enough clothes for the next 9 months and I know people in our family have also bought the baby some presents including more and more clothes. Otherwise, I'd be doing the same..
